QR code won't scan or keeps failing

WhatsApp and Telegram in AISAR connect through a QR code — the same way WhatsApp Web or Telegram Desktop does. Most failures at this step trace back to the phone itself, its internet connection, or a code that already expired, not to AISAR. Here are the common causes and how to work around each.

What you'll need

  • The WhatsApp or Telegram app on the phone, updated to the latest version — an outdated version can sometimes fail to complete the linked-device handshake.
  • A phone with a working camera and internet access at the moment of scanning — the link itself goes through the phone's connection to the provider's servers, not directly to the screen.
  • Only one open my.aisar.app tab with the connect wizard — a second tab starts a second QR session and confuses the phone camera.

How the QR code works in AISAR

The QR code exists only inside the channel connect or reconnect wizard — there's no separate, permanent image, and it isn't kept between sessions. The code carries an on-screen countdown; once time runs out, the wizard marks it as expired and offers to generate a new one with a single click — scanning an old screenshot or saved image never works.

Common causes and fixes

The code just won't scan with the cameraScreen glare, the browser zoomed too small, or the phone's camera is dirty or out of focus.Zoom the page in, remove glare, and try from 15–20 cm away. If that fails, switch to the pairing code by phone number instead (available for both WhatsApp and Telegram).
Nothing happens after scanning, or it hangs for a long timeThe phone lost its internet connection right at that moment, or the code you scanned expired while the phone was still confirming the link.Check the connection on the phone and click "Generate QR code" again — an old code can't be reused.
WhatsApp shows "Too Many Attempts" when scanningToo many QR requests in a row from the same number or device in a short time — this is WhatsApp's own safety mechanism, not an AISAR error.Close any extra my.aisar.app tabs with the wizard open, wait a few minutes, and try again.
The code scans, but the link drops right awayThis number has a passkey turned on inside WhatsApp itself — a plain scan doesn't clear that extra verification step.Complete the "Confirm with a passkey" step the wizard shows on its own — details in Connecting WhatsApp with a passkey.
The wizard doesn't show a QR code at allThe QR code renders only inside an active connect or reconnect wizard — it never shows up anywhere outside that step.Make sure you reached the "Connect" step of the wizard and picked the "QR code" method, not "Pairing code".

If the camera or QR isn't an option

Both WhatsApp and Telegram offer an alternative that doesn't depend on the camera or the code's quality: a pairing code by phone number. It's entered by hand on the phone, in the same linked-devices menu — steps for each channel are in Connecting WhatsApp and Connecting Telegram.

If nothing helped

If neither the QR code nor the pairing code goes through after several tries on different devices, contact AISAR support with the exact error text, if any, and the time of the attempt.
